Finally it stopped raining; In fact, I actually went outside and saw blue sky. A scrap of blue sky, a long way fro me, and moving quickly south, but it was there.
No more rain in the forecast after this afternoon, so i can get back on my bike tomorrow morning.
A couple of people have asked me what I do for a living, seeing as all I ever mention is biking and cooking. Nope, I'm not a bike racer, or a chef. Until 3 weeks ago, I was a bike messenger, which I had done for 5 years. Before that I spent a decade as a professional chef, specializing in Fine Dining, and then Party Catering.
I'll be headed back to work in about 11days, probably just to do construction work, or maybe landscaping, for the summer, and then I plan to go back to school to study Interior Design.
In my spare time, I do a lot of reading, a fair bit of cooking. I ride my bike between 300-400km per week, mainly road riding, but now that summer is here I will be adding some mountain biking into the mix. Most of the rest of my time is spent with the girls.
I am something of a political Junkie, mostly for American politics ( I was born in Seattle, and hold dual citizenship). My favourite political blogs are 'king of zembla', 'alicublog', and 'billmon'. My political influences include Chomsky, Machiavelli, Keynes, Galbraith, and Krugman.
The last movies I watched: Dog town and z-boys (amazing) and Oceans Twelve (pretty damned bad)

As for the research, ironically enough I am actually doing my thesis on exactly that. The world of education (and the world in general, I think) are on the verge of a paradigm shift. People are finding out that what we currently call "education" is really just socialization and indoctrination of a historically culturally narrow (read: Western/WHITE/male) pedagogical content. Unfortunately, the content also seeps through to the context/structure as well. There's lots more to it but yeah, I'm excited about the research too, for those reasons.
