Just got home from a night out. I'm such a rockstarpartydude.
The Drive-By Truckers completely fucking rock, in the grand tradition of southern rocksters, only funnier. They joked about playing two other appearances yesterday and being sober for all three. I can see why one of my friends is so completely obsessed with them. I kinda wish I'd gone to see them with him last year, but I'll probably go see them with him tomorrow night up in Indianapolis.
Louisville's own My Morning Jacket played, too; their first show back in Louisville since... I don't know when. Another friend of mine is obsessed with them. She's seen them all the way out in Washington, but it was merely coincidence that she found herself out there at the same time. It was good to see them home again. They rocked noticibly harder than the last time I saw them up in Indy, and they rocked it pretty fucking hard up there. They covered Danzig's "How the Gods Kill," which blew my fucking mind. The cover was dead fuckin' on, though they're not that kind of band at all. And I was the only one out of my group of friends who recognized the song. What a bunch of whores they are.
As far as going to Indinapolis... I wanted so badly to go to Chicago to see The Unlimited Sunshine tour, as CAKE and The Flaming Lips are two of my (non-existent list of) top ten favorite bands. But, the tickets are expensive, and getting all the way up to Chicago is even more expensiver. Getting to Indy costs money, sure, but it's cheaper, and tickets for the Drive-By Truckers won't be $40+.
My friends are pretty fucking good to me, all told. Just thought I'd say that. They aren't really whores.
And by the way, Miss littlegirllost: I'm not awake for school. School doesn't happen till six p.m. I'm up 'cause one of my friends had to go to work and she brought me home on the way. Nyah.

littlegirllost:
Chicago to Indy in two hours? What sort of vehicle were you in?
suoda:
ahh...i too crave a Flaming Lips concert. "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" is beautiful. I think they are going to be doing a tour with Beck soon. Might want to check out to see if there is anything nearby. Yea, all these double or triple header concerts are cool and all, but it really boosts the ticket prices which some people like us can't just throw down. Ah well. I wish I was going to be out in Seattle for Bumbershoot, but alas I am not.
