O.k...so I turned 30 and I survived.
Actually the extended b-day weekend started off last Thursday with an unexpectedly easy Anatomy & Physiology exam which I had killed myself studying for. I was stressed to the tip top and needed a vacation more than anything.
I didn't plan well for this trip and we forgot all kinds of stuff, but as we pulled out of Sactown glassy-eyed with good music coming out of the speakers...it was ON!!
Camping at Sunset State Beach (Santa Cruz, CA) is a tradition for us. We used to live in a little studio apartment attached to my mother-in-law's house that had no air conditioning. If you've ever been to the central valley of California in the summer, you know what kid of torture that was. Almost every weekend we would escape to the mountains or the coast to camp and refresh. Since we're backpackers and wilderness campers, Sunset SB is like camping at the Hilton (running HOT water, showers, store down the road, flushing toilets).
Highlights from the trip...
Chillin with Chalko on the sand
Dodging the waves
Climbing trees with the kids
Monterey Bay Acquarium
X-Rated Highlight - Can't show you a picture but after the campground cleared out on Sunday, we had some really fun fireside sex.
Trip Low-Light...
It was so windy at the beach and my daughter ended up with lots of the beach in her ear. By Sunday she had a full blown ear infection. We cruised by kaiser on our drive home and are still on antibiotic drops.
Wait...
We were quite burned out by the time we got home on Monday late afternoon and I was ready to lay on the cough and finish out my birthday "married with children"-style.
My sweet honey insisted that we get dressed and go out. So glad we did. Went shopping and bought a bunch of new panties and a new belt. Then we ate sushi while his Steelers won Monday Night football.
I even got a b-day text message from my favorite waitress that night.
I'm still in vacation/birthday haze. I got a 95% on that exam too!
It's good to be me...

Oh god. Food. Sugar. I feel like I am cursed with whatever Tim Allen had in The Santa Clause, when he only ate things like cookies and muffins.
so, you two are visiting next spring/summer, right?
i hardly think that's soon enough!
