Actually, my dad visited recently and dropped me a disk of family history stuff that a cousin of his did tracing back his mothers side of the family.
It's absolutely fascinating me, and includes hand written letters, newspaper articles, and hordes of family pictures going back to at least the 1850's.
There is a heart-wrenching letter from my great grandmother to a friend after her sisters family contracted typhoid fever and she had sent her daughter Mary to help care for them and the whole family recovered but Mary contracted the fever and died. 1917. She apparently never forgave herself.
That's obviously Mary on the right, there. My grandmother, Lucille is in front of her.
