I firmly believe BP is using dispersant at depth to deliberately keep the oil from reaching the surface in an attempt to hide the extent of the disaster, and tragically circumventing the meager clean-up technology we do have.
This is a travesty of epic proportions.
The only good news is the Loop current has formed an eddy and is just spinning round and round for the time being, meaning it won't be coming this way for the foreseeable future and NOAA has discontinued daily projections until the current changes back. It will of course, but the longer it doesn't is all the more time for the oil to breakdown or harden into balls before it reaches us.
