As a rule, I'm not a big fan of the bible, or of that most folksy of folk bands, the Birds. The former, however (that is the bible) can occasionally make a damn fine point. The book of ecclesiastes, for example, begins by claiming, "vanity of vanities, all is vanity". I have always felt the exact same way about live journals and such and such. Is our society really so individualistic that each person thinks that they have the duty to share every inane detail of their lives with everyone else??. ::le sigh:: before you point out that I am indeed doing the very same thing I would add that I need to procrastinate writing my grad school personal staement as long as possible. So here I stand, ignoring all the wisdom of ecclesiastes and giving inane details of my life. Ah well, Ive never really paid much attention to the Bible anyway. and I reread the passage where it condemns masturbation (the thing about Odon spilling his seed) frankly, its horse shit. God wasnt pissed because Odon Jerked off, he was pissed because Odon wouldnt support his brothers widow. the message isnt "jerking off is evil" its, "when your brother dies and leaves a destitute woman behind with no family take care of her or i will fuck you up". Let that be a lesson to all of us. I will continue masturbating happily but if any of my brothers die and leave widows behind I'l make sure i stop jerking long enough to give them some food money and other stuff, like a simpsons second season DVD (which I didnt get for Christmas despite my receipt of a portable swing machine, despite the fact that I watch the simpsons every day and that I can honestly say l have only once wished I had a portable sewing machine: senior prom) but that's a different story entirely)
