I do not believe how much my feet hurt after a weekend in Melbourne. Raced to catch our plane at 6.15am Saturday morning, then walked from Spencer St (or whichever is the 1 near the Telstra Dome) to the hotel near the Town Hall. Then hauled ourselves over to the AFL breakfast at the Rod Laver Centre, then walked over to the G only to find the direct route to gate 6 was blocked and we had to walk around 75% of the stadium in the opposite direct, watched Brisbane lose, then walked through the back streets of Richmond to catch up with friends at the London Hotel Tavern (which would be a lot easier to find if it was called the London Hotel or London Tavern), then walked back to Bridge St after a significant number of cans of VB (after relieving the pressure on someone's garden on the way), got back to the hotel to crash, woke early the next morning to stand in a 2 hour queue at the NGV for the Impressionist exhibition which took only 30 minutes to see, hauled arse over to China Town to meet more friends for yum cha, then back to Tiffany's because Cheryl wanted to window shop before racing to the airport for a 4.30pm flight home. And the baby was sick when we got home.
What a great weekend.
Highlights:
1. The GF was fantastic even though we lost. We were sitting in a group of WA tourists who didn't care who won and they were great fun as they slagged both sides (apparently the MCG is not as good as Subie). If we had to lose then I was glad it was Port and not 1 of those smug clubs like Collingwood. The Port fans were pretty magnanimous and was an excellant game for 3 quarters. I just wish they had a better club song because it is really fucking annoying.
2. There was a German girl in the queue at the NGV who looked just like Flux but with bigger tits. We would pass every 15 minutes as the queue zigzagged - I kept on wanting to ask if she had a sister who was into Star Trek, swords and internet porn.
3. The London Hotel was great fun with the crowd spilling into the side street andsome kick to kick over the top of the crowd.
Now back to normality.
Last Buffy QOTW for a while. Next month will be Shakespeare ( who was kind of like Joss) - "I like the quiet." The Zeppo
