I was going to do an entry about Easter, fluffy bunnies and chocolate but shit happens.
I got a call in the middle of a meeting yesterday afternoon from my father in law who informed me that we had been broken into and that the filing cabinet which I kept Cheryl's jewelry had been forced open. He had not been able to check the cabinet because he was waiting for the police and he did not want to disturb the crime scene (my father in law is ex-police). I spent the rest of the meeting thinking that all of the precious heirlooms which Cheryl left for Emily had been taken and I was angry with myself for not putting them in a safe deposit box before.
Fortunately, when I got home, I went through the house with the police and the only things missing were my personal files from the cabinet. It was really weird - the thieves went past the electrical goods, the jewelry, the alcohol, even the Easter eggs, and only took files with 10 year old tax, banking and accounting records. Anyway, I spent this morning cancelling credit cards and warning my bank not to accept any transfers of funds from my accounts. I doubt we will ever catch who did it but I would love to know why they did such a bizarre act.
In brighter news, Emily had a great Easter. She was so excited on Saturday night that she was still awake at 3pm and I had to stay in her room until she finally went to sleep. There was much squealing over the bunny trail in the morning and the rabbit nest of chocolate bunnies and eggs. Way more chocolate than a 4 year old could eat in a year.
I still had 1.5 kg of little Easter eggs from Darrell Lea from tha various peresents to friends and family, and hte bunny trail. After eating 0.5 kg, I am over chocolate and want to dump the rest, but I just can't let go.
Watching Buffy again, starting at season 1 - SMG in micro mini skirts, hot Jenny Calendar goodness and great one liners even if the plots were a bit underdone compared to later years.
