you can now buy my art at Etsy.com!
right now i only have three photo prints listed, but i will have lots more stuff to come: more prints, knitwear (scarves, hats, etc.), sillkscreened bags and t-shirts and more.
i really hope i sell some stuff. i owe my mother $500+ (not counting the tuition she is paying for the classes i continuously skip) and my first paycheck from Jimmy John's was for less than forty bucks.
speaking of my mom being unquestionably generous, on Friday she bought me my first tattoo:
it was done by D'wan at Under the Gun tattooing in Terre Haute, IN.
it's based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles old school logo. Pat is Patrick Michael Burkett, my twenty-year-old brother who died in March of an accidental drug overdose.
i thought getting the tattoo might be some kind of cathartic experience, like i would feel his presence in the studio with me and the physical pain would release some of the emotional pain. but none of that really happened. it's just ink in my skin, and he's still dead. part of me is excited to have a tattoo finally, but if i show it to someone who didn't know Pat it immediately changes from a celebration to an explanation of who and why and where and how... it's awkward. and itchy.
to end on a happy note: i am almost halfway into the last two weeks of classes. then it's one week in the theatre for rehearsal, and back to the Haute for Jesus' birthday. i am so happy to be done with this semester and start fresh. also, i'm getting this for Christmas. !!!!
