Gorillaz live was amazing!!! I saw them last night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. It truly was amazing but then again Im in love with this band and head over heels in love with Damon Albarn. I didnt take any pictures but I took some pictures after the concert.
I was completely drained by the concert. I was dancing and singing to every song. It's funny because I was sort of thinking of The Talking Head's "Stop Making Sense" and in an interview I came across recently, Damon was talking about that same concert film and how it inspired him for this tour. I appreciate Albarns love for diversity. Violins, trumpets, the Syrian National Orchestra, Bobby Womack. They played all of my favorite songs on the Plastic Beach album and then some
I also loved Jamie Hewletts artwork and imagery showcased on the screen all throughout the show. Noodle reminds me so much of a character in Tank Girl .
Overall it was a wonderful show, although I must point out that it was pretty fucking expensive. My friend had to take the bart down to San Jose to barrow a car from her father and we got lost a few times. So it was a bit hectic getting there and back home to San Francisco, oh and the Oracle Arena kind of sucks.
30$ for parking and I couldnt bring my lunchbox purse in because it was "hard" and merchandise was expensive as FUCk
But ultimately I should point out that it was worth every penny. I was truly transported to another planet. I was dancing like a cross between Edie Sedgwick and Ian Curtis. I enjoyed myself very much and I was with my roommate Tiana who I love and she enjoyed it as well.
So being that the show was last night I saw a lot of people in Halloween costumes, even the band was in costume. Damon painted his face white with black raccoon eyes. He reminded me of a Day of the Dead skeleton. The stage was filled with jack-o-lanterns and many of the band members were dressed up as well but I was so impressed by the audience.
I saw sesame street and muppet characters, power rangers, Dumb and Dumber, droogs, bears and of course people dressed up as the band. I saw many different incarnations of Murdoc , Noodle, 2D but I didnt see a Russel. I love the story behind each character and album. Yeah I love this band and again I keep repeating myself but I had such a great time and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I cherished each note and let the music go through me...Anyways...
Happy Halloween. In the spirit of the concert I dressed up as Noodle and hung out with some friends.
This is me minus the dark purple hair and sailor hat...
We watched Neil Jordan's "The Company of Wolves," which I've never seen but enjoyed. To me it felt more like horror/fantasy like Pan's labyrinth but it also reminded me of films like Willow, Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal. We ate pizza, pop corn, candy, cookies and cupcakes...and drinks
I had a great weekend but I'm drained. I did a photo shoot on Thursday and a fetish photo shoot on Friday (I still have some rope marks ) and I worked nonstop from Thursday to today. I keep reminding myself that its better to be busy then sitting on my ass, even though it's nice to do that to.
So how was your Halloween?
Much love everyone
