Halloween wasn't really all that fun for me.
I didn't do anything exciting. I dressed Jace up in the costume my mom bought him, I dressed up in whatever stupid shit I could find in my house and put together in a snap and we stayed home to hand out candy. I went out and bought bags upon bags of candy for the neighborhood kids. And boy was it an experience. Most of the trick or treaters were very polite, and most of them were actually kids...
Around 7:30ish, I had a family of 4 hispanic people come to the door...and mind you, I AM hispanic, I'm not being a racist bitch. This family consisted of mom, dad with a toddler on his shoulders dressed as a lion, and another woman, possibly a friend and not family. Anyway, they knock and the dad says "trick-or-treat" and holds out his small bag of candy for his boy (around my kid's age, not old enough for trick or treating, but that's just my opinion.) I comment on the cute costume, the mom and I small talk about our kid's closeness in age and compare the two and then dad and kid step away and say goodnight. Mom comes up to the door and holds up a pillowcase of candy, takes a couple peices, says thanks real sheepishly and leaves.
?
She was like in her late 30s! I was bewildered. Hopefully it was for another kid, maybe home sick or something. So weird.
Another couple of boys came later, they must have been like 14-15 years old. They knocked, chimed the familar greeting in their already-changed voices and pulled whole handfuls of candy out of my bowl for their bags, and took off. Fucking idiots. I should have yelled at them, but I held my tongue.
Here's my galleria of Halloween pics:
Good thing my boy will be old enough next year to go trick or treating. One experience of handing out candy and I've had enough. Blech.
Hope you all had a pleasant Halloween...
In other news, my kid is going to daycare starting this week. Should be interesting, he's never had group child care before. I hope he's not "that kid" who's a little tyrant and terroizes everyone. Whatever, I don't care, as long as mommy gets her work done.
Countdown to RENT - 22 days!
Countdown to Packers vs. Vikings at Lambeau (and YES, I'm so going!!!!) - 20 days!
Ta ta.
