Alan Rickman Dies at 69 from Cancer
While many may remember him as Professor Snape, those older of us remember him for many other roles.
For me, it will always be as the Sheriff of Nottingham that reminds me of Alan, the ever-used quote, "Because it hurts more, you twit!" in response to his cousins question why he would use a spoon to kill Robin Hood.
Then there was his other awesome villain, Hans Gruber of Die Hard fame, the lover in Truly Madly Deeply, the wicked Rasputin, Harry from Love Actually and so many more films and amazing roles it's impossible to mention.
But Alan Rickman was not just a Hollywood actor, he was also a "real" actor, gracing the scenes of many a theater and performing with the Royal Shakespear Company.
I once had the priviledge of meeting Mr. Rickman in the flesh, attending a show of Les Liaisons Dangeruses where he played Vicomte de Valmont and after the show, he was found wandering around the halls, eagerly meeting the audience and taking the time to speak with people, take pictures and generally prove that just because you are a Hollywood Bigshot, you don't have to be a "diva".
I know many more will echo this sentiment and while I am not religious in any way shape or form, I truly hope that Mr. Rickman will Rest In Peace.
Sic Transit Gloria Mundi.
