Just a Mindless Rant...
So on mondays, i usually tag along with the roomies and friends to the Brickyard for some monday night football. I'm not a football guy in the least, but i do enjoy watching a good match of --well--anything. Plus i like darts. So we go out, and there aren't more than 5 cars in the lot. Awesome. we must be uber early, which means we'll get a table. Not so...
A small rabble comes out of the kitchen door, and goes to their cars. One gentleman had the SUV we parked next to and says "the brickyard is closed. Tampon incident". My reply was pretty standard "yea right". This guy was serious, however, and proceded to tell the story of 100 tampon applicators that had apparently been flushed over a long period of time (no pun intended) and which have since clogged their pipes and "blew up the shit pump" -- which rendered the Brickyard toilet-less. No problem. We gather the crew and go to Doc's.
We got into docs and i could tell something just wasn't right. YOu know, when you don't feel welcome in a place. Regardless, i was hungry, so was everybody else so we stayed. Nobody was there, and the "pool league" had taken over the corner of the room. Se all sat down and the waiter handed us some menus and took drinks.
Now... getting on. There are no signs at Docs saying that you cannot play darts because of the pool leage... and why should there be? Theres about 5 feet from the end of the table to where the darts are being thrown. Ample space to play a pool shot, and shoot darts, and stand around to have a drink all at the same time. Apparently thats not the case. One of the "leaguers" who actually used to work there and i had a lot of respect for (used to) came over and told us to get off the dart board because we were interfering with the game. I didn't see how. There wasn't a sign posted, so honestly i didn't care. But... not wanting to be thrown out, we finished our game and left the board. We then asked for our money back from the machine since we weren't allowed to play there anymore. The bartender wouldn't give it to us at first, but then said something to the league and gave our money back. Then he had the balls to say " you can play on the other board", which is equally distant from the other table being used. It's a mirror setup, you see, but rather then asking him what part of his shit brain that made sense in, i just told him we'd pass on that. Then we left. I don't think i'm going back there for a long time. That place has just plain gone downhill. Too much turnover i think. I don't think i've been served by the same person twice in any of the last 15 times i've been there.
