Yes I've been absent and dire at commenting in your journals - unlike me - will put that right over the next day or two.
*drumroll* On Friday at 14:52 BST the first live order zoomed it's way through the system I've been working on solid for the last three months - it was bigger than the moon landing as far I was concerned. I was so knackered by then I could barely shuffle my way out of the building but elated. Elated because not only did it work but I took the reigns of leading the team in the absence of the architect and the customer and worked some good engineering with colleagues to get the job done. Satisfying. Also I'd declined the manager's kind offer to work the weekend to deliver the next phase which he'd floated on an audiocall (no pressure there then, great management) . I'd just done another two consecutive twelve hour days and explained that it might be a good idea for me to rest and clear my head and come back fresh? He's just worried about his tick-in-the-box bonus. Everyone else has had their hols but I kept on going - those Duracell batteries are something else...
Last weekend was the festival of the wife's birthday and she'd requested a trip to Brighton so off we went in the searing heat in my Ka (minus air-conditioning like the pink one only not pink) and melted at Dartford as we inched along and then clear down to the top of Brghton where the traffic was frozen at the A23 roundabout. We took a decision to go left instead and catch a train from Worthing. This worked out well. Wifey had lunch at a juice bar and went off clothes shopping for a while so I got some last minute presents to add to the pile of DVDs CDs and books. Had chips for lunch. We went off to the pier and treated her to amusements and then back into the town for a slap-up Mexican meal and then back to Worthing.
No squid on the menu at El Hambre
Well guess who was poorly? Yeah right - moi - too much sun/stress and all the rest of it so I pulled off at a service station jsut befor Pease Pottage and tried to stop perspiring. Ivy got me a tea and I put the seat back and conked out for an hour and a half. Felt better, sun had set and we ambled back quietly arriving home at 1am.
this weekend has been mercifully quiet and a chance to catch-up with stuff, mow the rather lush lawn due to the heavy rains. Saw the Simpsons movie and Hairspray too. Dentist on Tuesday, my Mars Bar was a bit crunchier than usual
No time for extra-curricular fun at the moment...
Busy on the beach despite the shark
