Today I awoke at around 2pm to the sound of violent rain sheeting down against my window. It only lasted about five minutes, but it was perfect; I rolled over, drew my comforter up around my chin, and dozed until it subsided into a steady drizzle. My only complaint is that it wasn't snow.
Now the rain has stopped, replaced by a rushing wind I let in through a perpetually cracked window. I was moody a few hours ago--plans with a friend fell through, I didn't get the present I wanted to get for my sister, and I discovered my bank tricked me into spending money I didn't have, leaving me with $1.05 in my checking account--but I've let it wash away. I'm left with the wind and the cold and the dark, pulled up to my ears like fleece; two days before Christmas, they're almost (almost) enough.
I wonder what the new year will be.
