Many of us in Portland are buckling down now that the seasons have turned. If you have not noticed the drop in temperature, you are the lucky ones.
There are many many people tonight who will not have a warm place to stay, a warm meal in their tummy or even somewhere soft to sleep.
So please, if you are reading this take a look around your home and see if there are any blankets that you could part with. If you have any hesitations giving away a blanket just think how happy someone will be who recieves it on such a cold night. Know that that one little act of kindness can really mean life or death for someone. Please help your fellow portlanders out! We are all really people, despite what we were born with and what cards we were dealt in life.
I am not going to accept money donations because this isn't about the money its about fighting the cold and opening your heart to someone and letting people who think that no one cares about them really know that someone cares. If you have a few dollars you could spare, it would be wonderful to buy a clean blanket or two at a local thrift store and donating those.
