Welcome to Caties Nature Page

Yesterday the weather afforded me the opportunity to finally work outside on my much-neglected flowerbeds. With constant 100+ degree-days and an even higher heat index, yesterdays morning rain and cloudy mid 80s afternoon was a HUGE relief. I took full advantage

I wrote a lot in the spring about my love for lilac bushes; yesterday I planted 3. One is...

it is interesting and kind of shaking to have an entirely different mind working, almost. It's just disconcerting at time. Especially interesting are those few seconds when I'm really wondering if what I though happened actually did and find myself sometimes sad and sometimes so happy not to have done what I thought I did.

Well, if you watch the extremely moving action-comedy Bulletproof Monk you realize that you can step on air.

Maybe you are a shaolin?

As I was dancing through the stacks in the library this morning... blush wink biggrin

I love volunteering in the library. Little known fact about me, I worked in my home town library as summer intern when I was home for the summer while in college. One of the reasons I like the movie Party Girl so much: That movie made working in the library really cool! It...

I wouldn't say you sounded like a mum. But, yes, you did make me feel very guilty and shamefaced! blush wink But then again you see, you're incredibly refined, whereas most of the girls of my acquaintance just... Aren't.

Oh, don't you worry about me forgeting you, when I'm finally elevated to ruler of the world, I'll have a place for you at my right hand!tongue

Dirty, rotten, filthy, stinkin'.....
She's my cherry pie

But the best part of that library gig is that you'll get say things like this...right?

"Let me tell you something, funny boy... You know that little stamp? The one that says Public Library? Well, that may not mean anything to you, but that means a lot to me. One whole helluva lot. Sure, go ahead, laugh if you want to. I've seen your type before - flashy, making the scene, flaunting convention. Yeah, I know what you're thinking... Why's this woman making such a big stink about old library books? Let me give you a hint, junior. Maybe we can live without libraries, people like you and me.... Maybe. Sure, we're too old to change the world. What about that kid, sitting down, opening a book right now in a branch of the local library and finding pictures of pee-pees and wee-wees in The Cat in the Hat and The Five Chinese Brothers. Doesn't he deserve better? Look, if you think this is about overdue fines and missing books, you'd better think again. This is about that kid's right to read a book without getting his mind warped. Or maybe that turns you on... Maybe that's how you get your kicks... You and your goodtime buddies... I've got a flash for you, joy boy. Partytime is over."

(circa Seinfeld) biggrin

wow, a sexy librarian. All the boys are gonna want books from you

My addiction to the show Rockstar INXS is thriving. For those of you who have better things to do with your time then watch reality TV here is the idea of the show. The rock group INXS is looking for a new lead singer. Now, I realize, most of the "kids" on this site weren't old enough to appreciate INXS at their peak and I...

Still dwelling on balance.

How to find it. It lurks in the darkest corners of my being and torments the woman I long to become. I've spent so much energy fighting who I am, desperate to become who I think I should be, all the while the balance of the two laughing at my struggle.

I saw myself through the eyes of another and was...

Hey there! Back from DIY hell! wink

I can't quite remember who said it (I'm sure it was some great philosopher or other professional thinker) but I read a quote basically saying that everyone has two sides to themselves, their nature: Who they are at the core of their being, and their demeanour: The 'projection' of the self onto others, or to put it more bluntly, how others percieve us.

Do we show different sides of ourselves to different people in the hopes they will think certain things about us?

Yes, absolutely. It's not even a concious decision on how we are going to portray ourselves to others, but all of us modify our behaviour to whatever situation we're in. To get a feeling of superiority, sympathy, love, friendship or whatever. It doesn't make you (or me) a bad person, social interaction is quite a minefield. You simply use what you have got to get what you can.

That's about the best way I can put it.
Perception or reality, what is more important in life?

But reality is defined by our perceptions of it, reality is such a misused word. People say things like 'It's real, I can touch it and taste it' but that's just how they perceive it. Reality doesn't exist without perception, and it could be argued that the reverse is true also.

Wow, it's a bit early in the day for existentialism from me!!!

Chin up baby, don't let the bastards grind you down (or to be more accurate, don't let the bastards see[/I you being ground down) ] kiss

I watched A Very Long Engagement over the weekend. What a fantastic movie!! Visually stunning and a complex story line kept me entertained and my brain working. The only real problem I had was keeping all the French names straight. I got confused a couple times and had to pause the movie to sort out who she was talking about. I highly recommend it, if...

yeah pretty sweet thanks, Fri night was going very well, engrossed in fruity conversation with a very sweet young lady... at least it was, until she discovered her wallet had been nicked and she made a rapid exit to sort out police report & stopping cards etc. - damn

saw my sister's new baby on Sun - humbling. Not really into babies (grew up in a large family, so I'm pretty over the broody wanting to hold them thing that people assume everyone has) but it was good to hang out and catch up

sick of me and my continual search for balance and happiness

hardly !! foolish girl tongue
your dilemmas, fears, worries, regrets, confused aspirations & obligations...you're not so different, many of us all share those things, you're just more honest about it than most. You (well what I know of you) and Your journal is one of the things that keeps me coming back here kiss

"Long Engagement" is indeed a fantastic film, beautifully shot, acted, framed, timed etc etc. I have to agree the best cinema (ie stuff that truly engages you in character and story; makes you think for days after, makes you want/need to dicuss it) seems currently to come out of Spain, France & Mexico.

US cinema is (largely) vacuous, big bang, popcorn fodder with an overloud soundtrack and too much empty MTV style editing, while UK cinema is usually either twee romantic twaddle or mockney loveable rogue crap. There are of course exceptions, and the reality is it's a business; the money guys wouldn't fund the making of those kind of movies if there wasn't huge demand and therefore profit.

A while back I had a sniff of doing a film with the DoP (Director of Photography) who shot Long Engagement and Amelie... which would have been magnificent, what a guy to meet and watch in action

I've been listening to a lot of Mellencamp this week.

Took the kids to Crater of Diamonds State Park last weekend. The one possible diamond we found, I dropped on the way to have the park ranger guy check it out for me whatever we had a good time anyway. The park is about 2 hours from LR and about half the drive is 2 lane...

josephene:
Good Morning, Chica...I played "Hurts So Good" for you this morning, honey, did you hear it?

The first day of school can be such a daunting time...what always used to help me was every year my mom would tell me..."everyone is in the same boat" and for some reason it would put my mind at ease to know that my fear was justified because others were feeling it too. There's comfort in numbers, I suppose. Sounds like the only thing the boy needs to worry about is filling up his little black book with numbers on the first day... love Such a ladies man... biggrin

Yes, all kinds of eye candy...that is for certain. And you know how I am abou the uniforms...*swoon-worthy* indeed...he was adorable, with cute dimples. I was telling Teddy about him today, and I think he got a little jealous, that was funny... blush

You have a great morning, chica...drink up...gotta keep up with the boy...and I'll give you a call this afternoon.

kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss love love love love love love

I'm addicted to the INXS show. It makes me wish I had a cool rock singing voice (I'd settle for any kind of decent singing voice) I can't wait for Josephene to get all better so that she will sing to me *swoon*

I'm also addicted to So You Think You Can Dance. Makes me wish I never gave up dancing. So instead of...

BTW...I did watch part of INXS last night, and laughed at the fact that I was falling asleep, gawd, I guess I really am a geezer now... wink Dave Narvaro though...*sssswwwooonnnn-worthyyyyy* my GOD he's beautiful. I like the show though, it's just odd that they are competing to be a part of INXS when from what I saw, they are all too good to be a part of that band... eeek

So, chica, this is your 3 minute warning...red rover, red rover...send Miss Catie right over...

OH and I love Miss Bete's fantasy... kiss love kiss love kiss love kiss
