Friday Dec. 22rd saw the wedding of an old friend of mine, Sarah. Currently a teacher, she's never been too well off and has always managed to look good on a shoestring and at oxfam. The joke (not malicious) when she was younger was that one day she'd be married in a dress from oxfam. So after the ceremony, her mum reveals in her speech that she'd done exactly that. She bought the dress 2 days after getting engaged for 100, it fitted perfectly and she looked gorgeous.
Alexis and I arrived late, naturally, although thankfully not during the 'any objections' bit. There was a ceilidh and everything. It was so fun! Spent more time with Alexis on Xmas eve and boxing day in a futile attempt to cheer the poor lass up.
Saturday 23rd and FC United were playing away at Flixton near where I grew up. I'd been meaning to go and see them for a long time and it was great. I had a spare ticket that was offered to all and sundry, but as it was only 2 days before xmas, I was on my todd. Luckily I met a lad from Preston called George so I wasn't too lonely. Was very surprised to see a lad from school playing at left back for FC, whose brother also plays for the reserves! It ended 1 all, but Flixton's goal was clearly offside, and although the linesman flagged it, the ref still let it stand. Anyhow, I'm off to see them again, at home this time against the mighty Curzon Ashton a week on Saturday.
Earlier that day, I'd been to see my paternal grandad, who I've not seen in a very long time. It was very good, albeit quite emotional.
Saw friends from college, and spent much time with the family for which I'm glad. My big prezzie was a new Man U. top. Straight out of wrapping paper and onto my back. Got a book on soul and was reading about James Brown before I spoke to by Bro and Dad in Holland to be informed that the Godfather was dead! RIP James.
Back at work boxing day. It's been very quiet, including New Years Eve, so I'm not sure what the next few months will bring.

And that all sounds a bit quieter than I expected somehow
