finally arrived back into boston at 5:19 this morning. had an eventful seven days in colorado. sub-freezing temperatures, car accidents, and snowboarding, with a little work and family time thrown into the mix.
weather in colorado never ceases to amaze me. on friday when i got up in the morning to go riding at copper mountain, it was a brisk zero degrees fahrenheit in denver, resulting in freezing roads and multiple car accidents. eventually, the temperature reached a high of 10 degrees. but in the mountains, it was a balmy 30 degrees and was actually a nice day to go riding and the company was fun.
on monday night i visited a friend's newly purchased home on colfax and pennsylvania. for those of you who know the area, he has a great view of the state capital; however, drug deals have been known to occur in front of his house. as we left monday night there were definitely some shady characters "hanging out" on the corner of colfax. there is also a story about a drug deal gone bad in the alley behind his house, shots were fired, and the gun was thrown onto the roof of his garage.
i was also involved in a car accident on monday...well i wasn't, but the car that i was driving was. i was having lunch when the car was involved in a hit-and-run accident. there were witnesses who got the lady's license plate, but the funny part is that they watched the lady drive about ten spots down, repark, clean off her car, and go into the mall. mind you that this was at the cherry creek mall, so i'm assuming that the lady felt it was my fault for having my car parked where it was. so when security came to look at my car, the other car was still parked a few spots down. ultimately, the other car got towed and when the lady came out and discovered her car missing, she called it in as stolen.
i know what it is like to come out and find your car gone. you get a sinking feeling in your stomach. i'm guessing that's how the lady was feeling on monday. but hey, it's still wrong to hit somebody's car and not leave a note. i guess she learned a big lesson.
i did find it difficult to want to come back to boston this time. i'm not sure exactly what it was all about, but i do miss living back in colorado and many of my friends are still there. i'm hoping that i can find a job and move back eventually.
