Lucille Clifton is reading at my college tonight. I'm ecstatic, she's wonderful. She is able to articulate in a musical manner many of the thoughts and emotions I think are common to many women. There's also a rock concert tonight, one of those Britney clones...and it breaks my heart and horrifies me that not only most of the women at this college, but many of my friends are choosing the concert over the reading. How often do you get a chance to hear Lucille Clifton read her poetry? How could anyone who claims to like poetry (my friends) give that up for a here-today-gone-tomorrow pop star?
Well, *I* intend to enjoy myself.
