Well I never thought Id be away for so long. Im so cash strapped I had to cancel my home net subscription so now Im left with library computer access, or as now, at my girlfriends place.

Life is seriously retarded. In the last fortnight I applied for, wait for it, 64 different jobs. Four of those got back to me, saying I was rejected....

Bitching, bitching, more bitching. Seems thats all I can do these days.

I am so frustrated with my situation I could fucking weep. Actually, thats not accurate, because I do.

I've been looking for work for about six months now, without success. I can't get a job in engineering near me because everyones looking for graduates, or years and years of experience. I cant get a...

I'm looking for a job too, but I can't find anything that could suits with what I'm already doing - I've 5 exams left to my degree and I'm working for free as "university stage" in a ads agency.
Modeling seems not to pay anymore, for me frown Once I used to make decent money out of it.

Nice to read that you wanna be more active! SG is a wonderful place where making new online friends!

And, about your comment on my post: I know I should just tell him straight away that I like him, but I fear a "no" frown Yes, it's dumb. But I'm so worried that he already knows and just ignore me 'cause he don't want to act like an asshole...

Ugh. Ignore what I said in the last post about having a great new years with friends, I ended up getting some flu/virus/food poisoning later that day that meant I was puking and shitting my guts out most of new years eve. I did manage to keep it together for the drive into Oxford (my gf lives about 20 miles out of town) and see...

Get off my lawn is sooo dated (I'm giving you a gift with this comment)

And a good beating followed by being cuffed up outside is just what you kids need. Why in my day we used to have to walk through hip deep snow year round just to go get our daily beatings.

A mixture,, this blog entry, of good and bad.

The good is that I am out of the house in London; Ive managed to escape to my girllfriends place in Oxford for the New Year, so I get to see a lot of her (fnarr fnarr) and a bunch of uni mates. Its really great being out of Bexleyheath, I can slowly feel my head...

I've decided I've had a bad decade.

I have no idea why, but I feel like I'm not meant to be here, on this planet, in this society. Theres a constant feeling in my head that society is some melody and that I'm a random flattened tone that is only ever-so-slightly, but jarringly, out of harmony. People dont make sense to me; or they do,...

Warning: This is a LONG post, rage and anger-filled.

My apologies for remaining cynical. Im having one of those weeks where SG just isnt doing it for me. Maybe Im just feeling a bit depressed (and once we get to the mystery meat of the week you'll see why, too), but theres also just something lacking about SG, or I feel that Im missing the...

I will return and re-read your post and give it the proper attention. I have only skimmed it but agree and most points. I didn't look at the spoiled text at all.

I agree with your sentiment, the last election was a flashpoint with far higher numbers turning out than usual hence the Farce as the polling stations couldn't cope. Nick Clegg (who has gone from coming out of nowhere to being vilified by students throughout the land and those responsible for the polling stations) have essentially alienated a whole section of voters who for various reasons haven't voted before, seeing the sprawling shambles that parliament is in won't exactly endear new voters.

As regards SG I very rarely read any of the articles it's more of a social network for me having met several very good friends which I see frequently via SG.

London Student Protests - mostly peaceful, with a handful of idiots.

Thats the summary. The longer version is more complicated.

I was there from the start till about 1420 when I left to get home before the trains started to get too packed out of Charing Cross. The start was in Horse Guards Avenue, turned left onto Whitehall, and then further south down Abingdon Street...

Protests of a noticeable size are always reported disproportionately by the media, you can guarantee that even if there were 50,000 peaceful protesters you'll see a photo of a masked troublemaker in an anarchy symbol hoody wiedling a petrol bomb with a headline of ANARCHY AT PROTEST.

I think people in this country are far too apathetic and worn down by corporately owned parliament to really protest on a massive scale. Most people are quick to argue about whatever being wrong from the safety of their armchair or an internet forum but not many actually do something about it so kudos for actually standing up.

I think Nick Clegg has clearly turned into David Cameron's lackey and his about turn on his previous pledge about tuition fees has put a big red bullseye on his forehead even if Cameron seems to be the public face of the "coalition".

Hey hey!
Thank you so much for your comment welcoming me to the current events forum! I had no idea it existed for the longest time and am SO glad I found it!
I look forward to reading everybody's commentary about various topics. smile

I have a long history of being an erratic poster with blogs, for very little reason beyond "You know what, I just couldnt be fucked."

But that, for once, isnt the reason. Last couple of times I posted I was being very angry and negative, and my situation then (woo crushing unemployment) wasnt really going to get any better; so in a rare moment of...

The biggest difference is that the head of the government in the US is not just the leader of the majority party.

Elections are held every year. These are local and state elections. Every two years, the entire House of Representatives is up for election. Senators hold six year terms, so roughly one third are up every two years.

The Senate has far more power than Lords. If the Senate does not like a bill passed by the House, it will just ignore it. A bill cannot be sent to the President to sign if the House and Senate bills are not exactly the same.

You vote for a candidate, not a party, though this is changing. I could vote party line in Texas, but more people are starting to vote by party affiliation than the candidate. This is due to the hyper partisan nature of the President, and the remarkable party unity of the GOP.

I had trouble explaining this while I was in England.

Im sorry, everybody, but today is largely a repeat of the last entry, except I'll keep it exceptionally brief, brutal and to the point.

Dear SG,

Please stop hiring self important, clueless blowhards who manage to find subjects that have no style, lack charisma (or even, indeed, a pulse) and end up writing articles with even less.

PLEASE FIND SOMEONE WHO WRITES STUFF THAT...

Another yawning gulf between the last update and this.

Oh well.

I cant say that I've been missing SG, because I've been checking the site regularly. I'm just really, really unimpressed of late.

Context: Not a hell of a lot has been happening here, still looking for a job, I am now officially a dole-scrounging graduate layabout, still bored, still going...
