Something has happened.
My thoughts are pretty clustered right now and I really don't know what
to say.I feel it in me though. Perhaps it me holding onto my rebellious
teenage ideals but perhaps it's me coming to age and realizing that these
feelings towards my surroundings are constant. I look around and see
capitalism at work at the largest degree (no shit we live in capitalist
country asshole). It seems unnessecary to me that we have businesses of
the same sort sitting right next to each other trying to buy each other
out so they're the last man standing. Dog eats Dog bullshit. Is it really
a must that we have a taco bell and a taco villa, why does any of this
matter. Preference? Preference to get the same shitty service from each
business and have a dull and bland product that satisfies our taste buds?
"Never settle for anything but the best" seems to be a philosophy that
everyone loves, but how often is it really lived out. I ate at taco bell
today and well it seems as shitty as ever. Maybe the best means that they
provide it quick, we can eat it, and go back to our boxes, ASAP. Nothing
seems to be that liberating anymore except networking with people who
share the same ideals as you and agree with you, or talking to those
who disagree with you and coming to a point of agreement, or perhaps even
changing someones perception to share the ideals you hold close to your
heart. Demonstrations, protests, canvassing. We get what we need to get
by and change a couple of peoples opinions. Sometimes we win, sometimes
we lose. Then we have groups like the ALF and ELF who prefer violent
direct action which sabotages corporations and the impact on them are
usually effective. Do I hate them for using that type of method to get
the message across? Fuck no, they're successful. They help weed out
the businesses that are harmful to our enviroment, but also has a traumatic
effect on those who want to try to accomplish things on a non violent level.
Maybe it's time that we all work together and network as a group, one large
faction instead of small ones. The violent and the non violent. We could get
so much more accomplished that way, we all think we are right and it is all
in our hearts. They couldn't get us all if we were all together. No central
leadership, just everyone working together, one large group, different methods.
If we continue to work against each other at this rate, then there won't be
much that we can accomplish. Peoples opinions will sway back to what they were
before and the lot of us will look like douchebags. Regardless of our methods,
don't you think it's time we just took some time to see what we have to say
from groups like the humane society to groups like Greenpeace, ALF, Feminist Majority Leadership alliance
we could all help each other out, wouldn't you say? I think everyone of us, regardless of what group we're in
or who we support could help each other, network, and join... ~end rant~
