Hi all. So, I haven't been on here in a while... lots going on at home. The Hubbz and I have been arguing about whether or not I needed a new computer for my photography; the one I've been using is a few years old and slow as crap! It definitely makes uploading and working with large files PAINFUL! I had accepted that I had lost the fight, for now, and was going to let it lay for a while. And then it happened... SNOW DAY!!! So, I get home from work and find a dusting of snow on the ground and the Hubbz and a friend drinking. AND... the computer has suffered a critical injury! Yay for snow days and me being able to get a new computer!!!
So, thats the good news...
The not so great news is that I've been dealing with a weird medical issue. I noticed one day that I was having a strange visual issue (not cool for anyone, but especially no good for a photographer!!). In my right eye, I have a portion of my vision that is skewed... It's mostly noticeable when I'm looking at straight lines as they now look curved and my depth perception is a bit off as well. So, I go to the eye doc and he tells me I have some swelling around my optic nerve which is pushing on my optic disc... not cool... so we wait a month because "maybe it will go away on it's own." Are you freaking kidding me!? So, of course a month later it's still there... I am now seeing a Neuro Ophthalmologist... Yeah, who even knew there was such a thing? Sooo, I see my new doc who does all kinds of random neurological tests and schedules me for an MRI. There seem to be 3 possibilities at this point; Clot, Mass (aka tumor), or Idiopathic Intraventricular Hypertension (IIH). So I have my MRI (those things suck by the way!), which thankfully come back clean! So it's looking like IIH, which basically means I make more CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) than I need and it doesn't drain quick enough. I am now waiting for the Dr's office to call me to schedule a lumbar puncture (spinal tap)... Oh joy... So, when I go in for the tap they'll measure the pressure in my head/spinal column and drain me down to a normal pressure, then I'll do a month or two of diuretics and see how that works out... If it works I'm golden and may not have to do anything else as long as my pressure stays down; if it doesn't work, I may need a shunt to drain the fluid from my head... shit... well... at least it's not a tumor!!
So, at least there is a new computer heading my way (I'm using the Hubbz iPad and not liking it much) and I'll hopefully be back to "normal" soon. Hopefully this will also fix my headaches and other random symptoms and I can feel like I can get back to living!
Also on the "YAY!" side of things, there are a couple of girls I am looking forward to shooting with once I'm back in my groove!
Hope you all are doing smashingly! I'll update again soon.
Much love!
