This is my back tattoo (sorry for the crappy pic...). It says "Accidents Happen To The Lonely Teddy Bear When He Takes Metallic Drugs". It is incredibly personal to me. I write poetry and this tattoo incorporates the titles of three of my pieces.
The stars represent my love for the night. I have always found solace in the night, and if there's a lot on my mind, a midnight walk always helps me to put things into perspective. You may also notice there's a theme of three. This represents my belief in the threefold law.
I chose to place this on my back as it's a reminder of the past, and that although we can look back, the image is always somewhat distorted (memories fade - we are also selective in what we remember / I can only see my tattoo in reflections/pictures). This helps remind that the past is the past, and whilst it is part of who I am, it does not define who I am now, just who I once was. People cannot see my history, they only see what I want them to see.
This is a tattoo which tends to attract quite a bit of attention (although it could do with a touch up) due to the "randomness" of it. I love that people read into it what they will, just as you would with any form of literature, and as English Literature (and Psychology) are great interests of mine, it's always interesting to hear people's interpretations of it. I would love to read what you think :)
