I think the objective of "unconditionally" is lost on modern society. We are all so fixated on instant gratification, me me me, give me attention, give me love, give me money, satisfy me, that we forget that we sometimes have to give without wanting anything in return to appreciate what we receive. Its all these nice folks we take for granted that smile at us without thinking twice, that say hello and goodbye, that give you a handshake when most just nod their head. Do we say hello back, do we smile back, do we extend a hand because we honestly were about to do it anyways? Or do we do it out of guilt, out of having been given something and not knowing what to do. Those that notice that there is something different, something lost in our eyes, the caring and sincerity in their depth of compassion. Its scary to have feelings, to care, to want, to need. This urge and craving for something better, but we deny ourselves what we need most. Just a hug from a perfect stranger, a stranger that wants nothing from us but to see you cheer up and see that the world isnt all rain, that sometimes there is beauty in a cool storm.
