I need to move to Chicago sometime. Unfortunately, I still need to finish school here. And, Chicago living is expensive compared to what I could get in Grand Rapids for probably twice the size. I was at Congress Theater last night and we walked around the area a while before hand, which is Bucktown/Wicker Park area. There were so many cool places, lots of vintage stores, lots of bars, urban outfitters (yay!), a head shop that had an elephant shaped bowl, and overall the people seemed to be young and cool. It'd be sweet to get an apartment around that area, although for a basic 2 bedroom I'd be looking at $800/month minimum. And they are like.. 800 sq. ft. And half of them don't even have washers/dryers in them. It's crazy how different big cities are from where I'm from.
I hope once I'm done with school, maybe I can get a job either in grand rapids to get accustomed to living in a city, or maybe I could just get one in Chicago. Although I feel like going straight to Chicago would be very overwhelming and I wouldn't want to do it alone. I know a few people who want to move there eventually - at least for a little while. Maybe it'll happen, maybe it won't. Either way, I am moving there eventually.
As much as I love the country and not dealing with so much traffic, a city has a lot to offer. I feel like while I'm young I should do it and experience it all.
Is anyone familiar with Chicago as in.. knowing the best place to live? Cost of living in different areas? I'm just curious for now.
sweet song!!!!
