It's been a while since I've written, so I thought I was due...
"Work," such as it is, has been going well. I finished the first of my "Seven Sins" paintings about a week and a half ago; tonight I just transferred the drawing for "Envy" to the canvas, so the first glazes will go on tomorrow night. I have a contest deadline on August 15th that I'm hoping to make with this painting. I have a back-up to enter, in the event that this one isn't ready, but I'm sincerely hoping that I can get this thing finished and photographed in 44 days. Keep your fingers crossed...
The prize money definitely wouldn't hurt. My disability pay isn't quite covering the bills, and until my line-of-duty health benefits kick in, I'm paying so much for COBRA that I can't afford my prescriptions, lol. On that note, I saw a pain management doctor today; he took me off of the Cymbalta that I have been taking for nearly two years, and put me on Topamax. The good news is that the Topamax will allegedly take care of my nerve issues without the nasty side-effects, as well as help me to lose weight. The bad news is that I'll be dropping Cymbalta with no chance to really wean myself off of it, and it's a HEAVY anti-depressant. The worse news is that I'm a gun owner, a fantastic shot, and there are tall buildings all over the place, downtown. And lawyers. Lots of lawyers.
So if I snap, at least I'll have a target-rich environment.
Aside from that-- life is beautiful, man. Got a fine-ass girl that's dumb enough to put up with me, a killer dog that doesn't know any better than to put up with me, and a fantastic kid who is beginning to bear a suspicious similarity to my old milkman from North Carolina... but that's probably just a coincidence.
Right?
