My attitudes and opinions surrounding the holidays are definitely a lot different than most. The main reason for this is because my mother became a Jehovah's Witness when I was about 4 or 5 years old, and that's when we stopped celebrating holidays.
Now I don't feel like I missed out on any of the gifts or attention that my peers would get around the holidays because my parents had their own way of rewarding me throughout the year rather than with one large showing at a time.
That all being said, my family did reestablish our own holiday event that we typically celebrate sometime around the Winter Solstice and we simply call it "Gathering"
During this time we exchange some gifts, cook way too much food, and watch movies or play board games. We started this a few years back and did themes for a few years. The first year was Lord of the Rings and we watched the extended trilogy and cooked 7 (yes 7) meals, as any well fed hobbit would do! The year after that was Harry Potter and guess who was in charge of the sweets trolley? You bet it was this little sugar fiend.
Anyways, I've never been one to have a list of things that I want at one specific time, and my mother always told me that I could find something I like or want just about anywhere. (It's a real talent I know)
So now that I have an actual event annually I always have to wrack my brain for ideas. This year I have been wanting Killstar clothing, art supplies, tattoos, Creepyyeha lingerie and lots of chocolate. More than anything I would like to continue my streak of giving bomb ass gifts to my loved ones because that always makes me happier than any gift someone could give to me!
But chocolate is still pretty great too 😀💜💚
