Are you kids ready for an epic tale of computer issues?
About a year ago my boyfriend upgraded his computer. For some reason the new video card didn't work properly. He was so annoyed and frustrated, blah, blah.
Long story short, I removed the adapter and plugged the monitor cord into the other output. Worked like a charm. (He's not computer illiterate, but it was his first time with a video card with dual outputs.)
Computer is fine for a while. Then, a few months ago, it just DIED. Kaput. We tried just about everything. Different RAM, different hard drive, different video card, different processor. So. We know it's the motherboard. Trouble was, he couldn't afford to upgrade right then, so we've just been sharing the one computer. Means we have to look at the same porn instead of two different kinds of porn, but we managed. ^_~
The guy finally gets a new motherboard, processor and RAM. Hurrah! His computer works!
Except it doesn't connect to the internet! Boo!
He's walking to an Office Depot right now to get a PCI network card, since he thinks that is what the issue is.
Did I mention it's raining outside?
Why don't these things ever just work the first time?

ugggh that's annoying. Of course if it had been me I would have had to just chuck the brick because I wouldn't know a video card if it flew up my nose.
