This is the last update before my big road trip people.
I am leaving Dec. 30 after work and heading to Ventura to visit my friend Kat. The next day, Kat and I are heading to Mr. B. M0j0's for a swingin' SGLA New Year's party. Jan. 1 I will take Kat back and continue on my trip. Kat will then head to Ohio to begin her new life at Kent State with her love, Liz. I will try to make it as far as San Francisco, but it depends on how early of a start I get. I will be taking the 1/101 all the way to Seattle...
My first stop is San Francisco. I'd like to see the Golden Gate bridge, China Town, Alcatraz and whatever else those piss-drinking hippies have to offer. I've met Lil' Tuffy, Donkey, Requiem, Piningshaft and Sixsixty at Disneyland and I hope to see them when I visit. Requiem has been so kind as to offer a place to stay and to visit his winery.
My second stop is the Yosemite National Park. That and a chance to see the redwoods. This is the nature part of my trip as I am looking forward to the big cities. I also plan to stop at the beaches to see the seals and the whales if possible.
Once I hit Oregon, my main attraction will be Portland, origin of all that is SG. But Crater Lake is on the way, so I'll probably hit that too. I would very much like to see Marie's band, One Day War, play. Their website has some great pictures, my favorite being Marie in a gas mask armed with what looks like a Browning Automatic Rifle. Perhaps I'll swing by Dante's or walk around Pioneer Square and run into some of our lovely models. If I do, I'll just smile, say hi, and go upon my way... Thanks to Seanbaby for offering his hospitality. I would love to meet the website guru and Mr. T impersonator.
Last stop: Seattle. Home of the late Kurt Cobain and the Seattle sound: Grunge. I plan on soaking up the rain and walking the streets of that wonderful northern empire. There have been a few people (L and Bloodyicewater of SWYDM fame) offering a pad and company up the Space Needle, and could I say no?
So that would end my trip. There's always Mt. St. Helen's and Olympic Mt. National Park if I am far ahead of schedule. But there are many beers to be bought and fun times to be had. I may spend most of my days before I even hit Seattle! Either way, I must be back home Sunday the 12th so I can be at work the next day. The Marine Corps does not deal well with unauthorized absence. At least I have the rifle range to look forward to when I get back. I'll be all up to speed on my marksmanship hopefully before they send any of us over to the big sandbox overseas. Wouldn't want to have to shoot at the bad men and miss.
Well I hope this is it. I will miss you all for the 2 weeks I am gone. No laptop to check the site. But I'll see all of you in SGLA when I get back soon enough. Take care of Fillerbunny, Daze. I'm counting on you buddy.
Goodbye everyone! See you soon!
