I'm slightly late to the party but let's blow up @fredhincanada notifications even more than they no doubt already are.
Tell us about one of your favourite songs of all time.
It's impossible to pick just one song, and I'm not claiming this is my favourite song of all time, but it's ONE of my favourite songs of all time. TOOL are one of the bands that I will never stop listening to. They may slip out of my rotation for periods of time, but they always get a resurgence, and I appreciate them even more everytime I come back to them. This is my funeral song. I've made sure multiple friends and family members are aware of this so my wish will be honoured. The slow build up into that initial riff drop makes me jump out of my seat every single time I hear it. Adam Jones' guitar work adds a groove that makes me uncontrollably air guitar my ass off. But the main thing that makes me want this song played as I'm farewelled into my next life is the lyrics. This song is about the soul being immortal, and the human existence and all the pain that comes with it, being just one short experience in a greater journey. The lyrics of the final refrain bring a tear to my eye every time I hear them-
This body holding me
Reminds me of my own mortality
Embrace this moment, remember
We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion
