i have just come back from the city of angels and i had a fabulous time. friday night i saw this incredible jazz pianist Brad Meldau at this really nice quaint club called the knitting factory. By the way, everyone needs to go buy his record Largo, its insanely intense and well crafted record. Saturday night I went to a comedy club called the Laugh...

in my quest for immortality, i find that stopping to see cave-in tonight, may just be the solution to all of life's mysterious ways.

When mortals are alive, they worry about death. When they're full, they worry about hunger. Theirs is the Great Uncertainty. But sages don't consider the past. And they don't worry about the future. Nor do they cling to the present. And from moment to moment they follow the Way.

i don't think necessary free will exists. i think every situation is a dictate of the previous "choice" one makes, thusly, narrowing the ability one has to "choose" their next best option, therefore giving no one free will to choose as they please. as we get older our choices narrow further and further, only to make the easily predictable choice as to what the next...

my mama always said life is like a box of....oh wait, enevrmind. my mom actually used to speak of the concept of 'human nature'. i never believed in human nature. there is no predetermined set of guidelines for which one will base all their decisions on. one could speak of survival instict as human nature -- but in many cases people lose the 'instinct' or choose to ignore it. that is their free will -- but in agreeance with the above said, free will is only as free as the options you leave yourself. and only as clear and diverse as youre capable of percieving them. the socialized abilty to make decisions based on your percieved outcome is the closest thing to free will or human nature. either way, you should use what free will you have to come to coffee with me tonight...muahahaha

so more weird shit happens to me this week. There's this chick that moved here from Napa, she doesn't really know anyone, so we hang out occasionally and i try to introduce her to people etc etc. Well, we haven't talked in a few weeks and she calls me up and we continue with our standard usual "whats goin on?" chit-chat.
it turns out chick...

wow, what a shitty thing to happen to your friend.

thanks for the note, i'm here, so i figured i'd just respond here.......i live in ann arbor, michigan. my degree is in graphic design, but i took a ton of photography classes in college too. i've never worked as a graphic designer or a photographer, though. but, recently i decided to become a graphic designer after all. (maybe a little web design too.) photography will probably always just be a side thing for me, since i don't want to be a commercial photographer. my pics are just some stuff i was playing around with in photoshop. i took them all with a digital camera that i borrowed. i'm kinda "old school" when i comes to photography--i like real film vs. digital.

i'm working in a picture framing shop right now, while i try to find a graphic design job. ....which reminds me--gotta go get ready for work! catch ya later!

my grandma died. i feel bad for my dad. death surrounds my family. strange though, i rarely feel bad about the deceased actually being gone. I just feel incredibly bad for the people still alive who mourn. very strange. very strange indeed. frown

you're right though--it's the people who are left behind who suffer. many times i've felt relief for the person who died--especially if they were suffering.
my sympathies for your loss.

no, i got the sarcasm.....i was just reflecting on my own life for a moment there. i've had to "simplify" my life after splitting up with my ex--i'll probably never have that lifestyle again. i'm an art person, so i just can't earn a ton of money, no matter how i try.
anyway....... biggrin
