I'm in a pretty good mood today. I got a voicemail this afternoon from my friend in Colorado's band. They apparently got their single finished in enough time to get it on the comp. They played it back for me over a cell phone, which did it no justice, and thanked me for my help. I felt so damn special. I'm a special lil guy.
5 days and counting for the social event of late summer. I always get freaked out going to big events which are packed with people I don't know. I get nervous because I know I have to do the small talk thing. I suck at it. It will shock you to know....I am actually shy. DUM DUM DUUUUUUUMMMMMMM. (climactic music playing).
I think my musical preference is starting to slip from the indie kids'. I've tried....I just don't see anything special about Franz Ferdinand. Maybe I'm just that old, or maybe I have a wider base of music histroy than most, but Franz Ferdinand probably would have struck me as interesting when the Cardigans got big in the mid 90's. The heavy disco strum and wild vocals just don't do it for me. All I will concede to is their catchiness. But every song sounds the same to me so....I dunno. Also, I'm failing to realize why people love the Postal Service so much. To me it sounds like a heavy attempt at going rock/electronic and the electronic bits aren't very good. Neither are the lyrics.. Then again, I was big into Roni Size and Hive when they hit in the mid 90's. They seemed extraordinary to me then, and pretty much most of the interesting electronic stuff has been done and over with. I do see why people who never really listened to electronic/drum and bass would be into the Postal Service though.
I rant on and on. Oh yeah!! I heard this TV commercial (didn't actually see it as I was playing Megaman Zero), it was for some laundry detergent and a line in the spot was "Make your blacks, blacker than black". I automatically said "and i'm black y'all". Tide has finally caught up with late 80's hip hop culture.
In sadder news my dog of 15 yearss, Chelsea was put to sleep last weekend while I was on my way back from Colorado after dealing with renal failure for the past 6 months. Baddest fucking dog ever (baddest meaning nicest), and I don't think I will own a dog again in protest of them not being able to live as long as I will. It's too hard to be so attached and know they only have 10-12 years to live. God is a jerkface.

on the topic of d'n'b, goldie is playing with photek sometime next month in chicago.
and on the topic of shyness, we're the most socially awkward couple ever, so you'll fit in just right at our wedding.
