I'm slated to head to Colorado the first week of August. The womon is also headed there at the same time, but in a different car. We're both kinda going to visit one of our friends. The lady already had a chance to visit last year but I couldn't/
Anyway I realized today, thanks to the above mentioned friend, that from where i'm at it's a 16 hour drive. I hear it's very fucked up to drive long distances by yourself if you're not used to it. Also dangerous. The longest i've ever driven in one direction is 6 hours. I'm worried actually. I know my super badass persona says I'm the hardest guy ever, but it's just not true. (sarcasm)
Erm. I think the lady was out with Opheliar today but not sure as I can't get hold of her. I spent most of today playing video games like an idiot. I normally have no time to do so. It's very odd having empty time to fill. I work so much during the week, and usually travel for so long on the weekend, that I never really have those moments when i say to myself "What should I do now?" I feel terrible and sort of guilty about having fun. Isn't that fucked up?
Anyway. As a part of my new strategy, tommorow (Sunday for those who can't read dates in numerical form) I am going to check all the usuall places for jobs and send in resumes. I'm also going to redo some parts of my resume and make a cover letter. Also, this week, i'm going to be a dick and call back EVERYONE I send a resume to. I'm so pissed about the job market I just don't care anymore. I figure there is no harm in doing so. Except to annoy whoever reviews the damn things. I alos think that sending in resumes on Sunday is a bad idea now. If I had to review resumes for job applicants on monday, i would hate it and just pick the first decent looking person out of the stack.
The tech job market was apparently worse in June (third month in a row), fewer hirings and more firings. 1,700 (estimated mind you) tech jobs outsourced to overseas countries (most likely India but they don't say for certain). You'd think that as a hardware/networking swiss army knife kinda guy, there would be indespensible positions to fill but I guess not. I refuse to sign contracts so that doesn't help at all.
In closing, I love Dr. Pepper's Red Fusion. Still addicted and loving it. Everyone who has a life this Saturday night, you have fun. I'll just sit here and look bored and dumb. DER!
