I had some very tasty Chinese from Yen's on Clark this evening. The new Simpsons was super funny as well was the new Arrested Development. However, the Grammy awards are a fucking joke.
Some of the bands who win these awards are just terrible. This is not just because I dislike them, but because you'd figure an award dubbed the "top music award" might be given with serious scrutiny. That being said, I just saw the "Best New Artist" award given away to Evanescence. On top of that, Fountains of Wayne were in that same category. WTF? That new record is not very good, and they were new in '96.
I could go on and on but it will sound like I'm trying to push my personal preferences on others, which I'm not. I just get angry at blatent corporatism fucking with music in such a gross way. Music is something I value greatly, and consider myself to be a fair critic of. THAT being said, I thought it was fucking nice of 50 cent (terrible terrible "muscian") to walk up on stage and congratulate Evanescence by shaking their hands when he didn't need to. That was surprisingly gracious of him.
Jack White fucking wrecked his guitar on the solos he was playing it was god damn crazy. He played with a slide and still somehow managed to pick clear notes. I'm a big fan of about 50% of the White Stripes music. The other half can go. I'm rambling. I'm not asking anyone to agree with anything I say. But if you saw the awards, what did you think?
