What's The Point?
What's the point in going to war?
To fight for the things that our fathers fought for.
How is it justified to kill one man,
If it is in response to the wrong at hand?
Why do we fool ourselves to thinking we're right?
Why do we insist on winning the fight?
If what we do here does not affect us there,
Then why do we worry and pull out our hair?
It makes no sense to do what we do.
To protect our country from our people, too.
We once said, "Give us your tired, your poor, your weary,"
But now we say because of an evil theory.
Our fathers once fought for our independence,
So how are we justified in building a fence
That keeps out the things that made so much sense.
We listen to our leaders, teachers, and parents,
Who tell us nothing can harm us.
So how can 9/11 still have happened
When our country was as strong as a mountain?
The world was in awe when we fell to our knees,
This country who had overcome all the informalities.
So what's the point in teaching our kids
To do the things our fathers once did?
So now we are here at the end of the fall
And all we can do is climb up the wall.
Now we have learned the value of lies,
That no matter what, someone else dies.
From this we learn that no matter how strong,
How powerful, quick, or decisive we are,
That we are the same as the enemies we face
When we take the fight out of this place.
So, I ask you again, What's the point in going to war?
The answer is none when war is not war.
What's the point in going to war?
