Saw the second of two Sonic Youth shows here in DC last night. If your keeping score, the first one got a mediocre review. Although it was good, it was not up to their usual very high standards. Probably the weakest SY show I have ever seen.
Well, last night was a huge improvement. A fantastic show, possibly the best of the maybe 8-10 shows of theirs I've seen. High energy from start to finish. When they came out, you could feel it even before they played anything that it was going to great. And it was. I had been and still was dealing with a low-grade migraine headache when they came out. With a migraine you generally want to avoid noise and lights and people. Still, I had a great time.
People will still be listening to their music in 50 years. At least us freaks.
