I'm getting to the point where I can't watch movies with any sort of romantic theme without it making me irritable. Within 90 minutes you'll meet someone perfect for you. The jerk will realise the error of his ways or receive his comeuppance. The girl pretending to be ugly will discover she's beautiful. The hero's decency will win out. Just being yourself will work. Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy finds way to win girl back. Happily ever after.
I know this is hardly the least realistic thing that happens in movies, but I suppose the difference is that in reality I'm not worried about my car exploding into a ball of flame if it rolls over or a hail of automatic gunfire striking the ground around me but leaving me unscathed.
I guess the reason I'm feeling sensitive to such everyday tropes is that things don't seem to be working out quite so smoothly. Things end, and you figure it's a chance for a new beginning. You try, you fail, and then you realise you're back at square one again, and you weren't much good at this to begin with.
Maybe life is like a movie, but I just haven't realised that most of us are extras. Anyway, this is getting way too livejournal, so I'll leave it there.
Here's a good song.
The band wants 2 measly Dollars for the EP, it's well worth supporting them.

Hell, I should auction that car and keep the squirrels, 'cause they're cute.
