So I'm sitting here in Morgantown PA for work, well, I'm done with the work and I'm just waiting a couple of hours before I head to the airport and head home. I've been trying hard to suck it up and enjoy my time here while I wasn't busy working, but wow, there's really not much to do here at all. One of the nights I went to a bar that looked like my kind of divey sort of place to have a couple of beers and some dinner. Sure, it seemed all right, but all the guys who came in there drank like 2 double shots of jaeger or blackberry brandy, and then got on their motorcycles and drove off.
This town is also in the midst of 'pennsylvania dutch' country, so there's a lot of amish and mennonites around. I've always found their simply/idyllic life to be really interesting, but I don't think its something that I could do. I respect them a lot, but how ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm once they've seen morgantown, eh? In driving around and looking for some interesting stuff to take pictures of, I saw a lot of teeny horses. I wish I hadn't been driving so I could have taken some pictures. Unfortunately the roads around here are super narrow and there's no place to pull over. I did manage to get a picture of a cool covered bridge that I ended up driving over 3 times because I got lost though.
The whole countryside around here is so cute that its ridiculous, and its been like this, so cute, since the 1700s. It kind of made me wish I had more than just an afternoon to drive around. I wouldn't want to actually stay here (I'm a bit of a food snob and I've been trying and trying to find some decent food around here, but wow, its hard to find something that's not super bland). I also had to make a trip to Intercourse, which is a hilarious city name. I had no idea what to expect, but when I got there it was pretty much a tourist trap for people exploring amish country. Its name is hilarious, and I saw an amish girl in a teeny cart being pulled by a teeny horse. Sadly I didn't get a picture of that though.
So the next destination is Sao Paulo Brazil, that should be a lot more interesting. I was originally writing this post to try to talk about the beauty of the idyllic small town here, but wow, there's really not that much to like about this place except the cuteness of it. Also, people in rural Pennsylvania have southern accents!?!?! Who knew?
