Wow, I really need to write in here more often! I just haven't felt the inspiration to write in quite awhile, and in the summertime there's too much going on to really sit down and write a blog.
So lets see.....back in April, shortly after I got back from Mexico, my mom had a stroke. She spent just over a month in the hospital, but she's back home now and mostly ok. Things were pretty scary for awhile, and I spent a lot more time in hospitals than I've ever wanted to.
Other than that, not a whole lot has been going on. I've just been living the dream, hanging out on my block (my neighbors are awesome), and generally doing what I normally do. I've been hoping to take some kind of vacation this summer, but now with my mom's health, I've been spending a lot of time on family activities (how can I possibly say no to my mom when all this crazy stuff has gone on?). So instead of doing what I'd really like to do and going somewhere that I can hang out by myself and have plenty of 'zen' time, I'm going to a lake cabin with 14 of my relatives from my mom's side of the family for a week. Don't get me wrong, I love my family, I just need some 'me' time.
Pride weekend was pretty cool here in Minneapolis too, its always such a giant event. It was the first time I went and checked it out. I'm not even sure why I never went before. Maybe latent homophobia or something? But anyway, it was kind of like going to the state fair, except way more gay and drag queens everywhere. I just don't get why people are so offended by gays and lesbians, they're just people, they're not any more evil than the rest of the population. It was pretty impressive to see so many local politicians walking in the parade yesterday. I got to shake hands with Al Franken, Amy Klobuchar, Keith Ellison, and RT Rybak (the mayor of Minneapolis). I'm just blown away by how much support there is for glbt rights. I just really hope that the anti-gay marriage amendment to our constitution fails in 2012. I've got a feeling that it will.
So I guess that's about it for right now, its time to head to work. Hopefully this will mean more blogs soon to follow.
