A man I once new had his funeral today....
I didnt know him all that well.
I worked as a retail whore a few years ago and he was a regular drifter in the city, he would come in and I would give him the newspaper and we would exchange few words.
As the months went by our chats grew longer and I would shout him lunch when I could.
He didnt have a home, any family, or many friends, but he had a heart of gold and a story for everything.
We lost contact when I changed jobs and I hadn't seen him for a few years, but on Wednesday I had a call that shocked me.. He had passed.
He didnt have anything to leave behind, no legacy, but just memories. Somehow one of the hostels went through his possessions and found a book containing every note he had written in the past ten years.
Apparently he used to tell people about me, so they tracked me down and asked if I would like to attend his funeral.
So today I went to the funeral of a man I barely knew, I was one of seven, the other people there looked like they were wondering where they were going to sleep tonight.
Its the Perth SG meet tonight, but somehow i dont think surrounding myself with people is the best idea... A bottle of wine and a packet of smokes will be my company tonight i think..... Hope you kids have fun and ill come to the next one when my spirits are up.
And to those who tagged me, I will update soon.
