So apparently I hit the limit on financial aid that one is allowed to borrow. It isn't very much, just a little over $130k. I misunderstood and thought it was a per-program/degree limit, not a total lifetime, combined, amount. So now I'm trying to figure out how to finish.. I tried applying for a grad-plus loan, but because of old medical bills my credit is crap so the loan was denied. They gave me the option of having a co-signer, but my parents are long dead and I do not know anyone that would do that for me. I started looking into scholarship options, but 99% of them seem to be a joke: 2000 word essay to ENTER into a competition for a few hundred $$$ or at most $1-2k. If I had that kind of time I'd just get a second job! Just sorting through them it seems that if you are not white, not a male, and poor, AND you are an undergrad there are a few scholarship options. Add in one of the above disqualifiers (male, white, graduate+ student, make anything over ~$50k/year) and the number of choices is quite low. Not complaining, just talking (typing) out what I see. If I wasn't so damn old (over 40) I'd go do military service. Ah, the things I would make myself do if I only had a time machine...
*sigh* I guess there's always flipper burgers at some fast food joint and sleeping in my car.
