Well!! What have I been up to....?
Gods, it's been 4 months since my last update. I'll organize my thoughts and get back to that. For now I have something for all of you to watch.
As the four of you who have actually read my blog know, I lost my dad to Cancer a few years ago. I lost a cousin (Adam) who was only 30 earlier this year and others as well. I have another cousin (Paul) who contracted Lung Cancer, 6 years ago, at the tender age of 30. He's been fighting ever since. A few years ago Paul got a few friends together to form the Dark Horse Riders, to ride in the Vancouver Ride To Conquer Cancer. Every rider must raise a minimum of $2,500. It's a huge fundraiser that raised over $11,000,000 this year alone and has been running for 5 years now. This June was Dark Horse's 3rd ride. I went along in one of the chase vehicles as their photographer. This video was done by my cousin starting with a tribute to those lost, to his family, and then finally to the riders themselves.
The first shots are of my dad, mom, me and the odd other person over the course of our lives together, followed by my Uncle who died last year a week or so before the ride, followed by Adam (the shot of the kilted men is Adam, me and another cousin of ours at a wedding this past Sept - the last time I saw him alive) and a few others. Then Paul and his family, then a few pictures of the 2010/2011 rides. Lastly the photos are of this year's rides. Most of the photos are taken from the 3,000 or so I shot over the weekend.
The ride goes from Vancouver to Seattle over 2 days. They ride approximately 120kms per day. Paul couldn't ride this year due to his cancer having metastasized to his brain, affecting his ability to stay on a bike. The required radiation treatment only made that worse. He did do the last 100 meters, surrounded by his teammates, to the finish line.
Having seen the sacrifice, courage, hard work and all the money raised, Katrina and I have decided to join them to help raise even more money.

The one big problem I'm having is moving away from my son.
