In deference to my American friends (who fortunately don't give a fuck about hockey ("and I never saw someone say that before"))....

In World Junior semi-final action, the Canadian juniors just beat the stuffing out of the USA in the USA, avenging last years loss in the gold medal game that took place in Canada. The theme of the broadcaster (TSN) this year was "Their soil, our anthem."
In attendance at the game in Buffalo, was a ratio of approx. 80/20 Canadians/Americans. Signs were posted "Welcome to Buffalo, Ontario" and the American team, pre-game, talked about scoring early to take the crowd out of the game. Just goes to show how much work the sport needs to get done to really get into the US market, that the only time the tourney sells out is when it's in Canada, or if in the US, near Canada - and Buffalo is an NHL city!! Though, to be fair, the Europeans don't sell out when they host the tournament either. As a Canadian, who'd love to see the tourney in person, in full, it's easier to travel to Sweden, or Germany to get tickets...
Canada now goes onto the gold medal game vs Russia and the US will face Sweden for Bronze. Both to be played on Wednesday.
