I thought it was time for an update. It feels like a long time since I've been around here. Hope you're all doing well! I've been concentrating most of my time on getting healthy, and feel bad that I haven't kept up with everyone. I'm eating a diet consisting of almost all whole foods, with the exception of some grain products and a treat here and there. If you've ever considered it, I highly recommend it. I have so much more energy now that I'm filling my plate with fruits and veggies instead of overly processed sugary crap. Don't get me wrong- I'm not going to totally convert, but I'll save my treats for times when I want a drink, or get something fried when I'm out with friends. 95% of my food intake from now on is going to be things that are healthy for my body!
I met up with a freelance client tonight at a local coffee house. I realized how much I miss the coffee culture atmosphere. When I lived at my parents there was a coffee shop withing walking distance that became my second home. I knew all the regulars- a big group of 30 or 40 people who came and went at different hours. I met some of the best people there- artists, musicians, poets, and storytellers. It was a dim dark place filled with old furniture and art shows put on by myself and a few others. The coffee was always good and the food reliable. We were there so often that some of us got calls there. Everything from wet t-shirt contests to mohawking happened on the outside patio. It was the type of place that Tom Waits might wander into and feel at home. I'd love to have a place like that to go to now. Tell me where you used to hang in junior high and high school. I like hearing stories of your old haunts.

Another of my favorite songs from that time has to be Semisonic's "Closing Time."
Also, anything by Silverchair off of their Neon Ballroom album. That cd never gets very far from me.
