For the past 7 hours, I'd been waiting around to find out whether or not my friend would be okay. I had a message from him that he left in the middle of the night saying that he was hurt, and contemplating suicide, and that he loved me and his other friends. There was no information of where is was or what I could do to help him.
He has been depressed due to the loss of his grandmother, and the break-up with a close girlfriend and a DUI.
I spent hours calling around to friends, his relatives, and eventually hospitals and police departments, and subsequent hours pacing around the house waiting for that call.
Finally, he called to let me know he was leaving a hospital, and that he would call me later to tell me more.
I'm telling you all this because I urge you to take care of each other, to always remind the people you are close to that you love and care about them. Do what you can to let them know that no matter how bad things can get, there really is so much more, and despite how busy life gets, please take the time to make an extra phone call, or send an email, or stop by for a visit.
Sometimes it is the power of these little things that can help to make a difference. There are huge world issues too vast to take on, and sometimes we can do nothing to better these, but helping even just a little will make life better.
I know this may all be a little cliche, but I'm too worn out to write poetically. Best to all of you. I truly hope that 2009 brings us all good things.

Honestly this past year id been struggling with thoughts of suicide myself and ( as i have very few real life freinds) many ppl around the site know i went through really difficult crucial times with it more than once and i only found comforting words and temporary relief here. Im still struggling with it honestly, so i know that kinda thing is literally, scary =/
