***Drinking and driving VS. Smoking and Driving***
~DRINKING~
+ Every 30 minutes, someone in this country dies in an alcohol-related crash. Every fucking 30 minutes!
+ Last year alone over one million people(about 1,058,990) were injured in alcohol-related traffic crashes.
+ Over one-third of college students report having driven while intoxicated within the past year.
+ According to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, more than 13 million Americans abuse alcohol, with many of them becoming alcoholics.

~SMOKING~
+ Researchers from Britains Transport Research Laboratory found that the subjects who had smoked marijuana - unlike alcohol users - were aware of their impairment and attempted to compensate for it by driving more cautiously.
+ Australian researchers at the University of Adelaide found that alcohol "overwhelmingly plays the greatest role in road crashes ... [and] conversely, ... marijuana has a negligible impact...
+ Cannabis actually has far less impact on the psychomotor skills needed for driving than alcohol does, and is seldom a causal factor in automobile accidents.
+ According to the editors of the prestigious British medical journal, The Lancet, "The smoking of cannabis, even long-term, is not harmful to health It would be reasonable to judge cannabis as less of a threat than alcohol or tobacco."

**Random facts from "YAERD - Young Adults Educating Responsible Drinking":
>Abraham Lincoln once observed that It has long been recognized that the problems with alcohol elate not to the use of a bad thing, but to the abuse of a good thing.
>The national anthem of the US, the Star-Spangled Banner, was written to the tune of a drinking song.
>In ancient Babylon, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead (fermented honey beverage) he could drink for a month after the wedding. Because their calendar was lunar or moon-based, this period of free mead was called the "honey month," or what we now call the "honeymoon."
>There is a cloud of alcohol in outer space with enough alcohol to make four trillion-trillion drinks. It's free for the taking but it's 10,000 light years away from Earth.
>There is some anecdotal evidence that alcohol sipped through a straw is more potent than simply drinking straight from the glass. Drinking through a straw helps mix air with the alcohol, carrying it to the nasal cavity where it is absorbed more rapidly. An even flow of alcohol also boosts absorption efficiency.

i have a different take on the whole thing. i think that no matter what (substance) you do before you jump in the car it should all be handled the same way. drive fast. that way, you get it over with one way or the other.
