Last year about this time I posted "Random thoughts today about 40 things @ 40" Ones of people read it and enjoyed it so I have expanded to 41 to mark my 41st free trip around the sun. - no particular order and they are as true as I believe them to be at this time with some carry overs and with some new. Some...

And so as fast as it began, Bluesfest 2013 ends. Last couple of nights were interesting with a variety of music being played. Saturday was Bjrk closing out the show to the least amount of people I have seen and Sunday Dog Blood played after BB King, with the most amount of people. Not to mention yesterday was stupid hot. Overall, not bad festival, not...

Damn dude, you missed Alice in Chains? eeek

I've never really listened to Bjork as a solo artist. The Sugarcubes were a good band, though.

Saw some more great shows the past couple of days. Tops was the Joy Formidable. First time seeing them and they put on a kick ass show. Love their studio stuff, but live was even better.
Also took in Wu-Tang Clan, Dixie Chicks, Hannah Georges, Keys n Krates and Zeds Dead.
Another highlight was seeing Blue King Brown for my third time. Another band that...

Haha. I can't stand the Dixie Chicks. (Mainly the vocals.) How was the Wu-Tang Clan? Glad you had fun, man!

I Youtubed some vids of the festival. Canadian concert-goers don't seem nearly as assholish as US ones do. LOL.

Hope you have fun tonight! You should check out Def Leppard's early live shows and demos w/ Pete Willis. They have this song called "Warchild" that I think Maiden ripped off with "Wrathchild." LOL.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

This was done in like '78 or some shit.

Haven't seen Def Leppard since like, 2004. I've seen clips from this tour, and they're playing some songs they haven't played in years, like "On Through the NIght" from High 'n' Dry. Joe's voice sounds weak, but the band sounds good.

You should go see them, though. (Well, if it's not a rip-off. smile)

I was going to joke and say "It looks like a drone," but really ... it looks like drone. I've yet to see one around here, though they are around. Digging the line across the eyes. Very chic. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap style.

Know what you mean. Yeah, I'm anticipating that drag. Probably should have signed up for another summer class, but too late now. Kinda sad about it.

I always thought Def Leppard's first album, "On Through the Night" was their best. It sounds completely different from any of their others. Really no similarity whatsoever. Some of the best harmonies in rock 'n roll on that album. Really psychedelic, too.

In particular those four.

So you met Henry Rollins? Was he a dick? That hotel building looks very stark, kind of like a relic from the USSR.

Were you percieved any differently by people after you did it for the first time? I suppose that mainly applies to women, though. One can only imagine how a woman with a shaved head would be treated. But yeah, I think I'll do it!

This is serious ... was just thinking about this yesterday. Whenever you go to concerts, you should always protect your hearing. I'd bet 99.5% of the people in any given audience don't do it, but you'll never get that hearing back once it's gone. The damage is so avoidable.

Not to sound like a douche ...It's just a major pet peeve of mine. I'd always hated myself after the few concerts I went to without any protection. Ok ... I'll shut up.smile
