Today has certainly been ridiculous.
It's Thursday (well, I guess technically now it's Friday, but we're talking about Thursday here) and that means I have class all day. I had to wake up and the friggin' crack of dawn so I had time to pick up my paycheck, put gas in my car, and then drive to Ironton (a twenty minute drive) to get to my morning Bio. class.
I love this class. My professor is mega energetic and does a fantastic job of keeping things interesting, amusing, and fun.
This morning though, for whatever reason, he only kept us in class for twenty minutes and then was like, well, I'm done. You guys can leave.
This is cool in the sense that I got out of class mega, mega early - but I mean, I drove all the way there just to sit there for twenty minutes? Ha.
So anyway, way earlier this morning, around 5am while I was still asleep, my phone started ringing and naturally I ignored it being that it was five in the morning. Whoever called left a voice message, which I did not bother to listen to when I woke up.
I finally decided to listen to it driving home from my morning class, and it's my friend Shane, telling me that he just got robbed and is stranded in Columbus at a Greyhound Station and he's super depressed and he loves me and I'm an amazing person and he doesn't think he'll ever see me again.
Yeah.
I knew he was getting on a greyhound bus the day before to go to New Hampshire. Apparently Columbus was the end of the line for him.
Imagine getting that voicemail driving at 8:30AM.
So of course I immediately calll him back, and he answers and I tell him to stay the fuck where he is and I'm coming to get him.
Columbus is at least a three hour drive from South Point, but I wasn't about to leave a friend stranded in a big city. Especially a friend who has a major history of not knowing when to keep his mouth shut and ends up getting himself into fights constantly.
I called my best friend, Haley, and I said, "We're driving to Columbus to pick up Shane." Because it's Haley, she just said okay, and I picked her up and we started our journey.
By doing this I had to skip two of my classes, which sucked, but a friend's well being was more important to me at the time.
I hate driving to Columbus. I hate city traffic and I hate five lane highways and crazy fuckin' drivers. I especially hate driving downtown, though. When we reached Columbus we of course got lost trying to figure out where the fuck the Greyhound Station even was. We were probably lost in the city for an hour before we found the bus station, and then couldn't even find a place near it to park and had to park two blocks away and walk.
I kept saying how much I fucking hated the city, which is a lie - I just really hate driving in cities. I love living there and walking everywhere.
Huntington, WV is different, and so is Ashland, KY - two cities I live not even twenty minutes away from, but they're small cities and the traffic is nothing compared to Columbus, OH.
We didn't even know if we were going into the right bus station.
We were, though. As soon as I walked in I saw him sitting there reading a book and he looked up and dropped his book and looked like he was about to cry. As we headed towards my car I saw his hands were swolled and bruised. He'd been in several fights after being robbed.
We drove straight back from there, and he told us about getting pick pocketed (wallet, ticket, and all) and also told us a beautiful story about a girl he met in the bus station that called herself "Mouse". He was crushed that he had lost all his money, his ID, everything he had on him and that he would not be able to reach his original destination. He was also crushed about Mouse, who was headed for California and that he had immediately fell in love with though they only knew each other for fourteen hours.
I told him that maybe he wasn't mean to go to New Hampshire. I didn't know what else to say. It was rather heartbreaking, but I'm happy that he's okay and home safe.
I'm happy to be home safe too, laying on the couch watching Conan O'brien<3.
Today seemed like eternity.
Tomorrow Haley and I are going to a pumpkin festival. =)

It's always nice to get out of class early but having to drive all that way for only 20 minutes really sucks.
You are an amazing friend for doing that, I would like to think I would do the same, I know that I would for a handful of people.
I have been to Columbus 3 times this year, it's a crazy place.
So what was the story about Mouse, what did he say about her, did he get any of her info like a email or phone number or anything like that?
