Love that song!

So I tried to locate a few lenses last Saturday, a 28mm f1.8, 50mm f1.4 and an 85mm f1.8 for the band shoot in T.O. and I managed to ge the 50 at a local shop but they had to order the 28 and 85. So I went around to some other shops, found one that could...

www.cuddleparty.com

Soooo, I was in Atmosphere in Guelph a few weeks back and I saw a poster on the back wall advertising a "Cuddle Party". Naturally, like some of you, I thought "What the fuck is that?" and tore off the website info along the bottom. I checked the website and at first I thought is was some new age hippie thing, or a cleverly...

For those who don't know, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, ex Pantera and Damageplan guitarist, was shot and killed onstage by some fucking prick (an alleged fan) during a show in 2004. Dimebag, was an exceptionally tallented and technical player, who's material and style influenced scores of guitarists that followed.

"In This River" was written by Wylde...

Another great guitar track. Two solo's at 0:54 and 4:53 and both are so beautiful. I find the first to have a very lonely quality to it. Almost spooky. This is the best I could find that had both solos. The video has some really cool pictures but it's the music that's the subject of my post.

R.I.P "Dimebag"...

"History Repeating" feat. Shirley Bassey

Temptation.

Temptation.Temptation.Temptation.

What is it and why do we try so hard to avoid it, resist it, defy it?

To the former and the later...I don't know. What do you think?

I do know this...temptation is very exciting. It's crazy. It's hot. It's sexy. It's dangerous. Sometimes you just have to say "fuck it" and...

now playing: Ministry - Lay Lady Lay

I have always loved this song. It was originally done by Bob Dylan and later covered by Ministry. It starts with a simple rolling bass line, then a little kick and snare, and then a haunting ambient guitar track almost like whales calling from the deep blue ocean.

But it's the guitar coming in at 4:33 that grabs...

how is it any diff than a B-day, You surely exspect your Sig other to do something extra on that day, don't you? I won't even touch Christmas or Chanuka
camalot:
Ahh, good point, however as I see it, my birthday was 30 years ago so no, I don't expect anything. That being said, V-Day and B-days are entirely different. I've never seen any large scale marketing campaign promoting B-day gifts...have you?

So, I guess to be more specific, its the expectation stemming from the commercialisation that bothers me. And then there's Christmas...what a can of worms that is. Frankly, I find the level of greed that thrives around these "holidays" to be rather disgusting.

Consider it in terms of extremes. What's more moving and significant to you...

A) a starving man that gives you his last dollar because he thinks you need it more than he.

or

B) a starving man that gives you his last dollar because you have a gun pointed at his head.

There's giving based on desire to do a nice thing and then there's giving based on a choice that isn't really a choice at all...give me your dollar or I'll shoot you, give me a bunch of roses and a kiss or I'll make you feel crappy for not doing it.

Which would you prefer?

Why do people treat each other the way we do. We're short with one another. We take one another for granted. We can't see past our own hand to realize that there's someone standing there offering their friendship, or more, whatever.

One word. Two word. Three word answers. Suspicion. Mistrust. No trust. Love...it takes many forms. There's sibling...

Sorry about the double entry Cam. I'm still a noob.

Apology for guardedness

. I think Peter Frengel expresses best how I feel:

Ivory tower
where I fled for asylum
is now my prison.

As I told Cam in an earlier message, I'm closed (emotionally). There is a reason for that. Sometimes the only way to protect yourself from hurt is to go inside yourself, protect yourself, to climb that ivory tower of inner sanctum. The problem is, the longer you spend in there the harder it is to come out until one day you realize, you're locked in there by fear. The only person I really know is myself. How lonely is that? And how much do I crave that special someone who will come in and drag me out, kicking and screaming. Who will not take no for an answer. Who will help me overcome my fear. I think only a special person could do that. One who understands where a person like me is at (locked inside, realizing I'm locked inside and wanting to find a way out), who is patient and who sees the end result clearly (ultimately an emotionally profitable relationship with a vibrant, creative human being). All your comments were appreciated. I had to respond.

A Perfect Kiss.

Today I had the most amazing experience of my recent life. Possibly of all my life, but that's hard to say for sure.

I was standing in line at Cinnabon this afternoon, in the same mall that I was kicked out of for taking photos at a while back, and there were two women standing about 30 feet away looking at something...

No fucking idea anymore, I don't remember the last time I kissed someone or they kissed me. No one has ever complained however, but there's always lots to learn... well if you have someone to practice with that is.

I am drinking tea before going to bed.... sigh. I'm hopeless for now. I need somewhere else to sleep. See my MySpace blog. I'll try some new tricks with the insomnia soon. I think I am going to the countryside for a few days or so soon... to start interviewing my grandmother for the book I am doing of her life just to have a project to do... and I think it will be good. Blabla... kissing... is hard to get out of my mind when it's in the front row.

A friend relayed this story to me today. It's about a little girl and a construction crew and honestly, I teared up...

This is truly a heartwarming story about the bond formed between a little girl and some construction workers. It makes you want to believe in the goodness of people and that there is hope for the human race.

A young family moved into...
